Martell Cordon Bleu 100 celebrates a century of this exclusive connoisseur’s cognac, with a specially luxury boxed edition, featuring an exquisite blue version of the classic bottle, and an accompanying montre (taster’s bottle) of a special Borderies blend by mixmaster Benoît Fil, presented in a velvet-lined wood case with sterling silver trim. Of course there is more of a story. Martell, founded in 1715, is the oldest cognac house. Back in 1912, it made the at-the-time radical move of, instead of following convention by simply labeling its new luxury cognac with the quality rating, actually gave it a name of its own: Cordon Bleu, a critical blend of over 100 eaux-de-vie, patiently aged in fine-grained old oak casks.
